Overview
Haywire is a large land map whose central open ground is framed by a broad forest ring. Gold begins inside that ring, while the later economy and expansions sit beyond it; the practical question is which exits you can keep open as you move outward.
The centre is not an objective in isolation. Its value is as the link between the early inner economy and the outer settlements, Food, and Gold.
Food
The opening requests 5–7 deer, 5–6 chickens, 6–7 berries, and two to three shared goats or pigs per player. Later layers add deer at 75–120 m, a 50/50 boar-or-aurochs group at 80–120 m, then a boar-and-deer or water-buffalo group at 85–120 m. Two far berry groups, close and outer herdables, and lion-or-crocodile pairs extend the finite land economy. These are requested packages, not guaranteed completed totals.
Wood & Routes
Three 20–25-tile forests are requested near each start. Four small inner forest requests per player fill the interior while twenty-four 80–90-tile outer forest requests define the standard-1v1 ring. The source deliberately cuts player-facing connections through it, so Wood abundance and route control are inseparable.
Gold Mines
A complete standard 1v1 request contains two 3,000-Gold medium starts, two 6,000-Gold inner close mines, six fixed 6,000-Gold outer mines, and a final two-to-four-mine outer branch: 66,000–78,000 Gold requested, with 72,000 as the branch expectation. Close Gold is 45–65 m out in the inner area; later Gold starts from 70 m and avoids settlement, tower, forest-edge, and central-edge space.
Settlements & Relics
Each player receives a backward settlement request at 70–135 m and a far, highly aggressive request at 125–170 m. Both stay clear of the forest ring’s inner and outer edges. Two relics per player begin at least 80 m out, so the outer ground is the sustained map-control layer.
