Overview

Atacama is an open desert map whose economy is pulled away from the starts by three ponds per player and a central woodland. The ponds are not a fishing economy: each completed pond receives a pair of hippopotamuses, while the central forest creates the main Wood contest.

The defining question is not whether the centre exists, but whether you can secure its Wood and still contest the pond-side Food before the heavier outer hunt becomes necessary.
02 Resources

Food

Each player receives a zebra-or-gazelle opening group, chickens, berries, and two to three starting goats. The script then requests two close hunt groups per player at 60–80 m, one farther zebra-or-gazelle group per player, and one elephant-or-rhinoceros group per player. Six ponds in standard 1v1 each receive two hippopotamuses. Additional close and outer goats, hyenas, and lions extend the land economy. These are requested packages, not guaranteed final totals.

Wood & Routes

Atacama requests two 20–25-tile starting forest areas per player, a 35–40-tile forest inside the centre, and five additional global forest areas. Forests avoid water, settlements, Town Centers, impassable land, and the centre’s inner edge. That makes the central forest strategically important without making every central route impassable.

04 Resources

Gold Mines

A complete standard 1v1 request is 54,000 Gold: one 3,000-Gold medium mine per player, two 6,000-Gold close mines per player at 50–70 m, and two 6,000-Gold bonus mines per player from 75 m onward. The large mines avoid pond water, settlement space, tower vision, corners, and the central area; constrained requests can still fail.

05 Objectives

Settlements & Relics

Atacama requests a backward 60–80 m settlement and an aggressive 80–120 m settlement for each player. Both avoid the centre, corners, and tower vision. Two relics per player start at least 80 m out and also avoid the centre, so the map’s outer ground—not a fixed middle shrine—supplies the objective pressure.
