Overview
PB2 Gorge is a highland map divided by a 103 m ravine. Two 18 m highlands run along opposite sides of the map; cliff segments and the available openings make the central separation more important than a simple open-field distance.
This is a separate Pandora’s Box 2 publication identity. Its Final Release script is materially different from Gameathlon Athens Gorge Recalibrated 1.4, so this page does not borrow that map’s facts or overhead.
Highlands, Cliffs & Routes
Players begin on a line across the ravine. The two highlands are built at 18 m with an edge blend and local cliff segments, while the map may rotate its axis. Fifty cliff-forest requests hug the cliff terrain, large player-side gorge forests occupy the outer corners in 1v1, and highland forests avoid hill edges. The exact passes and forest successes vary by generation.
Food
The opening is 5–6 spotted deer or a boar-and-deer mix, 5–7 chickens, 6–7 berries, and two to three goats or cows per player. Two close hunt groups per player then sit 50–80 m out. Each highland also receives a branch-selected hunt request at 70–120 m: deer, spotted deer, boar, aurochs, and golden pheasants appear in different combinations. Golden pheasants are documented as a source object but are excluded from numeric Food totals until their canonical value is mapped confidently.
Wood
Wood is abundant but tied to the highlands and cliff faces. The source makes fifty small cliff-forest requests, two large player-side gorge forests, three 35–45-tile starting forest requests per player, ten 60–75-tile highland forests, and ten tiny forests. These are terrain-area requests, so they establish distribution rather than an exact Wood total.
Gold Mines
A complete 1v1 request is 54,000 Gold: one 3,000-Gold starting mine per player and two 6,000-Gold mines for each player on each highland. Large mines must be on highland ground, at least 20 m from its edge, 55 m from the player, 60 m from other Gold, and clear of settlements, tower vision, and corners. Taking hill ground is therefore also taking the map’s long-term Gold.
Settlements & Relics
Each highland requests one settlement per player at 80–145 m, with the two layers alternating defensive and aggressive bias. They avoid the King-of-the-Hill location and hill edges. The script also requests one relic per player on each highland from 80 m onward. In both cases the placement constraints mean a request is not a guaranteed completed object.
This overview reads the PB2 Final Release Gorge XS/XML, records a separate source-diff provenance against Gameathlon Gorge Recalibrated 1.4, and checks one user-confirmed PB2 Final Release Scenario Editor overhead. It supports source-defined highlands, requested packages, and the 54k Gold request; it does not reuse Gameathlon facts or turn one PB2 overhead into a universal layout.
