Restores the normal hover tooltips on command-panel icons—train, technology, rally point, and more—while you watch a replay with the replay panel collapsed.

Windows compatibility utility Optional

Only needed if another installed UI mod replaces the same HUD file and overrides this fix. The utility patches that other mod's copy, with automatic backups and restore. It is not the full in-game mod and does not replace the Mod ZIP.

Windows prerelease v1.0.0-rc2. Close Retold before patching or restoring.

Compatibility

  • Built for Retold game build 606844. A game update can require a rebuilt mod; disable it if the interface misbehaves after an update.
  • The mod replaces a whole HUD interface file. Another UI mod that replaces the same file can override it—use the optional utility in that case.
  • Live games were unchanged in testing. The mod does not change commands, hotkeys, or gameplay.

Install the full mod

  1. Download the Mod ZIP and open the archive.
  2. Open %USERPROFILE%\Games\Age of Mythology Retold\<profile ID>\mods\local\. Use your own numeric profile folder (on Steam, this is your Steam ID). Create local if it does not exist.
  3. Extract the archive's top-level Spectator Tooltip Fix folder into local. The result should be local\Spectator Tooltip Fix\, without an extra archive-named folder.
  4. Launch Retold, enable Spectator Tooltip Fix in the mod manager, then restart the game.
  5. In a replay, collapse the replay panel and hover command-panel icons to see their tooltips.

Remove the mod

  1. Disable Spectator Tooltip Fix in the mod manager and close Retold.
  2. Delete the local\Spectator Tooltip Fix\ folder.
  3. If you used the optional utility, run its Restore Backup to undo its changes to other mods.

Replay caveat

Clicking an age-up icon in a replay can open the local minor god picker. Choosing a god there has not been tested—avoid selecting a god in replay until that interaction has been safety validated.
